Registration Requirements & Updates 2026-2027


ONLY PARENTS OR A LEGAL GUARDIAN CAN REGISTER A PLAYER AND SIGN WAIVERS (Parent/Guardian 1 is the primary contact for all emails) 

Players Must Reside in RDMH Boundaries to Register – must be completed to participate! 
If you have a rural address or box number you will need to send your full legal land description (Meridian, Range, Township, Section, Quarter - e.g., NE 16-38-25-W4) to jackie@reddeerminorhockey.com for boundary verification and confirmation you are eligible to register with RDMH.  

Players outside the RDMH Boundaries, can apply for an exception, see information below.

NEW*** Change to Respect in Sport. 
•    The RIS course is being replaced by Hockey Canada’s The Shift Forward for both Parent and Coach.  
•    Any valid RIS certificates will be grandfathered until its expiry date.

First Time Players and Player New to Minor Hockey (must complete in full to participate)- 1-3 must be completed prior to registering 
Players just starting hockey or registering in Minor Hockey for the first time will require a Hockey Canada ID (HCID) & a valid Respect in Sport Parent Certificate or The Shift Forward. 
1.    Create Spordle Account
2.    Creating an HCR Number
        -  Select Red Deer Minor Hockey as "Home Association", this is what allocates the player to RDMH.
        - Upload 2 *proof of residency documents and player’s Birth Certificate for profile verification.
3.    Complete The Shift Forward course or link your new player to a valid RIS Parent / Instructions.
4.    Register with Red Deer Minor Hockey
        - Parent/Legal Guradian1 is our main contact for all emails and communications, please DO NOT put an emergency contact here.

Returning Players (information must be updated to participate)
1.    Finding your HCR Number 
2.    Login to Spordle – update player(s) profile information 
         - Update address, contact email, and cell numbers.
         - Address updates require new *proof of residency attached under documents in player profile. 
         - Check that your RIS Parent Certificate is still valid, if not, take The Shift Forward course.   

 Finding your Expiration  date

*Proof of Residency
Renting accommodations, paying utilities, and registering for school in a community can be done without establishing permanent residency. All the below items must have a Parent’s name on the document or any documentation which supports your claim to residency at the address.
o     Driver's License for Father
o     Driver's License for Mother
o     Proof of mail delivery by Canada Post at residence (Box numbers are not acceptable)      
o     Telephone bill for land line service at residence
o     Cable or internet bill for service at residence
o     Lease agreement for residence in parent(s) name(s)
Player Movement and Boundary Exception Requests
 Pond Hockey players - inside RDMH boundaries
•    Must email 1 proof of residency document to jackie@reddeerminorhockey.com
         -  Include players Legal Full Name and DOB in email for transfer request.
Pond Hockey and fisrt-time players - outside RDMH boundaries
•    Must submit a Boundary Exception form and be approved before registering.
       - RDMH will begin reviewing these requests after August 5 (no late fee will be applied)
       - If approved, there is a $300 non-residential fee that will be applied to your account.
Players moving within Alberta or Players wishing to register outside their primary MHA
•    Must complete a Player Movement Form and Boundary Exception Form
        - Player Movement form needs to be signed by your MHA and sent to jackie@reddeerminorhockey.com (be sure to include a letter explaining your reason for the request)
Players that moved from outside Alberta - into RDMH boundaries
•    Must complete a Parent Declaration Form.
        -  You are required to attach 2 proofs of residency for the transfer or it will get rejected.  
        -  Include jackie@reddeerminorhockey.com in the “Forward Submission” box on the form, RDMH requires it for the transfer request.

All requirements must be met and fees up to date for player to be listed on the website.
